The short and small rounded crown is surrounded by a medium brim, which is upturned at the sides and back, creating a unique shape. On top of the crown there are 3 awesome feather \"birds\" in soft gray and white. To complete the look, there is a brown spider veil that unfortunately has several breaks. Placed on top of the hat, the breaks are not visible unless you study the veil up close. The veil ties at the back, creating 2 streamers. If preferred, you can remove the veil, or replace it with an age appropriate new one. There is also a brown elastic band attached, allowing the hat to be worn in a tilted position. The ‘Toy’ or ‘Doll’ hat was a very small hat that perched on the very front of the forehead.Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. Printed on the hat: MERRIMAC, but no designer label. There is a Consumer Protection Label stating it is Adjustable This is an authentic piece of fashion history!
